ALA! China and Meta4 Group Launch Co-branded ALA! Personals Service

(8 March 2004 - Tokyo) Today Alaworld.com which is based in Australia and WorldFriends Networks launched a Personals service for Alaworld.com’s ALA! China portal.

Alaworld.com is the 5th company to cooperate with WorldFriends Networks to launch an online personals service in Japan. Predecessors are Eigonavi (an English language learning portal site) launched in October 2003, Hiragana Times (an English-Japanese bilingual monthly magazine) and Japan.com (Japanese information portal) which both launched in December, 2003 and Womenjapan.com (women’s site) launched in January 2004. However, Alaworld.com is the first Japanese language China information portal to cooperate with WorldFriends Networks to introduce an online personals service.

The unique feature of WorldFriends Networks online personals service is to focus on internationally-minded Asians. It is currently providing its service in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. All affiliated companies provide the personals service with their own brand name.

With this cooperation, users of ALA! China can use a quadrilingual personals service provided by WorldFriends Networks to easily find new friends from 3 categories, namely language learning partners, travel buddies, and pen-pals. Users will receive matchmail, an email containing the list of other members who fulfill their requests for a match. This service can help ALA! China’s users who are interested in China to easily initiate a communication with Chinese members and any other members of WorldFriends Networks.

A member of ALA! Personals can choose to be a Regular, VIP or Open Club member. Regular membership is free and members can create their own profile, search other members and see their profiles, receive messages, and send a smile to other members. VIP members can initiate contact with any members. VIP members can choose the service duration from 1, 3, 6, or 12 months starting from 3,500 yen. Open Club is 7,500 yen for 3 months.

WorldFriends Networks is planning a rapid expansion of the network and is actively seeking additional website partners. WorldFriends Networks is currently providing its service to native speakers of English, Chinese, and Japanese. A Korean version is in the works. Also an instant messenger feature will be launched soon.
